The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay just recently renovated a space at their Bruce W. Nagel Unit in west Green Bay. The space, which was originally the administrative office, is now officially dubbed the College & Career Center or the “CCC.” Their unit is one of only ten Boys & Girls Clubs in the nation to receive this opportunity! The CCC for teens officially opened last Friday, September 22nd. Partners and supporters were able to tour the space, socialize, enjoy hors d’oeuvres catered by The Runaway Spoon and be a part of the ribbing cutting.
The CCC is the perfect hangout for teens. The lounge area is equipped with TVs, WiFi, Xbox, Netflix, and everything they would need to kick back after a day at school. The lounge will also be a place where Teen Coordinators will host programs that get teens active, thinking and having fun. The Union is an area where teens can buy snacks, do homework or play games. This space is managed by teens in the Club’s volunteerism and entrepreneurial program called “Keystone.” Lastly, the “College Center” and “Career Center” are two separate rooms that will host programs that get teens thinking about and prepared for their futures. Teens will have access to job training and shadowing, guest speakers, college visits, internships, job placements, workforce etiquette training, academic mentoring and free tutoring.
The Boys & Girls Club is more than just a “hangout” for kids to go to after school. As mentioned, a variety of programs are offered, like “Be Great: Graduate” and “Teens2Work.” These programs help kids and teens with academic success and workforce skills. The Club is staffed with amazing mentors who are passionate about helping their members be successful today, tomorrow and forever.
