After completing our inspiration palette for spring, our designers were looking forward to collecting materials for our summer palette, which is colorful, vibrant and fresh. Not familiar with our seasonal palette projects? Our goal is to embody the essence of each current season while utilizing various materials that are used in interior design.
We took inspiration from the heat, as summer is the hottest in temperature out of the four seasons. Envision canyons in Arizona with a sunset backdrop made of dusky pinks and soft oranges. Or, imagine a fiery desert sun beaming on cacti plentiful with flowers in bloom. In the summer, the days are longer and the nights are shorter. Because of the warm temperatures and long days, people spend more time outdoors. Days spent pool-side or at the beach are enjoyed. Palm trees, soft sand, salty water and sunscreen come to mind.
For our palette, we brought in natural elements like succulents, cactus and palm leave for added texture and color. In regards to colors, we went with aquatic blues, vibrant greens, dusky pinks and earthy browns to embody the pleasures of summertime.
Products
Here are the products that are featured on our palette:
Paint: Rambling Rose from Sherwin Williams is the perfect dusk rose that reminds us of a sunset out in the Arizona desert.
Paint: Similar to a pink cactus flower, Pressed Flower is another great paint color from Sherwin Williams.
Upholstery Fabric: Refraction (in “Oblique”) by Luum Textiles is a large-scale statement pattern that emulates the movement of light and shadow. Calm neutrals merge and diverge across the fabric to soften multi-directional planes of color. Like the other warm pink pieces, this fabric also reminds us of the desert.
Upholstery Fabric: Heather Felt (in “Mustard Seed”) is a 100% wool felted construction fabric that’s also from Luum Textiles. This fabric added the perfect pop of green to the palette.
Upholstery Fabric: Momentum‘s Well Well Well fabric (in the colorway “White) is extraordinarily unique and artistic.
Upholstery Fabric: Fraser (in the color “Buck”) by Wolf Gordon has a soft hand and works as a nice neutral on the board.
Upholstery Fabric: True Path (in “Hydro”) from CF Stinson is a great summer stripe.
Upholstery Fabric: Maharam‘s Divina is the perfect color blue that’s both bright and playful. This color blue is found in the ocean and sky on a clear day.
Upholstery Fabric: Ample (in “Quark”) by Luum Textiles is a chunky fabric that creates a strong visual and tactile texture.
Upholstery Fabric: Flip Flops in the color “Limesickle” by CF Stinson is reminiscent to beach towels and pool-side sunbrellas.
Upholstery and Wall Fabric: We love this Cork Upholstery (in color “NAT 4214”) from Wolf Gordon that’s made from 100% cork and is surprisingly soft and flexible. We’d love to see this on a wall application!
Panel Fabric: Chiyogami in the color “Salt” from Design Tex is a geometric fabric that closely resembles herringbone floors.
Wall Covering: D.L. Couch‘s Selenite (in the color “Celestine”) plays off of nature elements, like agate stones, canyon rock layers and turquoise.
Flooring: Antique Light Oak from Interface‘s Level Set Collection of LVT replicates textured woodgrains. This vinyl planking resembles wood from the deck of a beach house.
Hexagon Tile: Limestone Hexagon Tile from Daltile‘s Limestone Collection plays off of current geometric (especially hexagon) trends in the design industry.
